Why I Don't Ask Children to Smile for Photos

Recently a client asked, “Why don’t you tell my kids to smile.”

My response to that was and is, “Because it is not natural.”

Let me elaborate:

Asking a child, or even adults, to smile on command creates a stiff unnatural image that is not true to their personalities.

Allowing a child to respond to prompts, and interact who and what is around them, creates beautiful, authentic images that tells a story.
